Overview

Starting as an oil tanker management, SK Shipping has since expanded its range of business to include chemical tanker, bulk carriers, and LNG/LPG carrier, differentiating itself from competitors with ship management know-how accumulated through these various activities.

ISR system
SK Shipping verifies that health/safety/quality/environment standards are maintained by having company safety inspectors to inspect the status of vessels against a list of 250 checkpoints at regular intervals. Necessary corrective actions revealed during the inspection are assigned to relevant personnel to be implemented right away. This system is called ISR (Integrated Safety Rating).
Intensive Visitation Regimen
Superintendents examine and address the operating conditions and maintenance history of each ship through an intensive visitation regimen designed to optimize ship conditions, and perform safety calls to check ship conditions prior to critical operations during ship navigation. Furthermore, they regularly listen to grievances of the crews to better understand their work situation and provide feedback to relevant organizations to manage dynamic elements.
Ship-self Audit
SK Shipping "Ship-self ISR" and "Ship-self Audit" systems enable ships to conduct self-safety inspections and audits, address/complement weaknesses and recognize problems on their own in order to improve the overall safety level.
SK CIC
To prepare for ship inspections by the PSC and SIRE, the SK CIC (Concentrated Inspection Campaign) provides opportunities for each ship to inspect current intensive inspection items on its own in advance each month.
