On March 2, 2012, SK Shipping signed an agreement with Hyundai Heavy Industries to buy an 82,000-CBM VLGC. The shipbuilding contract ceremony, which was held at Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul, was attended by over 20 officials from 3 companies including Kyuho Whang, CEO of SK Shipping, Heon Jung, CEO of SK Gas, and Jaesung Lee, CEO of Hyundai Heavy Industries. The three companies pledged to further their strategic and cooperative partnership.The VLGC is due for delivery in early 2013 and will be put into action for the LPG transportation to the Middle East and Asia for the next 20 yearsCurrently, SK Shipping has a total of 6 vessels including two private vessels in place for LPG transportation operations for SK Gas. ="Our plan to grow as a global top resources transportation company will be able to gather momentum through this new contract," said the CEO Kyuho Whang, congratulating the company on the ordering of a new ship.SK Shipping has received attention from the industry for its most active and continuous investment in vessels of all the shipping companies in Korea
