Overview
Starting as an oil tanker management, SK Shipping has since expanded its range of business to
include chemical tanker, bulk carriers, and LNG/LPG carrier, differentiating itself from competitors with
ship management know-how accumulated through these various activities.
- ISR system
- SK Shipping verifies that health/safety/quality/environment standards
are maintained by having company safety inspectors to inspect the
status of vessels against a list of 250 checkpoints at regular intervals.
Necessary corrective actions revealed during the inspection are assigned
to relevant personnel to be implemented right away. This system is called
ISR (Integrated Safety Rating).
- Intensive Visitation Regimen
- Superintendents examine and address the operating conditions
and maintenance history of each ship through an intensive
visitation regimen designed to optimize ship conditions, and
perform safety calls to check ship conditions prior to critical
operations during ship navigation. Furthermore, they regularly
listen to grievances of the crews to better understand their work
situation and provide feedback to relevant organizations to
manage dynamic elements.
- Ship-self Audit
- SK Shipping "Ship-self ISR" and "Ship-self Audit" systems enable ships
to conduct self-safety inspections and audits,
address/complement weaknesses and recognize problems on
their own in order to improve the overall safety level.
- SK CIC
- To prepare for ship inspections by the PSC and SIRE, the SK CIC
(Concentrated Inspection Campaign) provides opportunities for
each ship to inspect current intensive inspection items on its own
in advance each month.

-
Our shore/off-shore e-Management System including MTIS (Marine Total Information System) and VIS (Vessel Information System) enables us to enhance operational efficiency and manage emergencies quickly by sharing each vessel's operating condition, PMS (Planned and Preventive Maintenance System), History, Crew Information, Safety Information, Purchasing and Schedule information, etc. between the shore office, vessel and sub-contractor.

-
BRIDGE(Bridge Risk Information Data Gathering Engine)System
This is an onboard weather information gathering system for ships that provides the latest 10-day weather forecast information via email at all times. The meteorological information includes all kinds of information that affects ship navigation such as barometric pressure arrangement, wave and swell, wind direction/velocity and sea current to help ship captains minimize weather risks and ensue safe and cost-effective navigation.

-
SK Safety Management System
This is a web-based navigation supervisor designed to monitor the status of ships at sea via the Internet thus helping to ensure safe navigation. It is also configured to provide global 10-day weather forecasts and alerts not only meteorological threats but also provides piracy information (source: IMB) updated in real time.

-
Video Conference System for Vessel's Safety
This is a web-based navigation supervisor designed to monitor the status of ships at sea via the Internet thus helping to ensure safe navigation. It is also configured to provide global 10-day weather forecasts and alerts not only meteorological threats but also provides piracy information (source: IMB) updated in real time.
