Executive Information System

Our shore/off-shore e-Management System including MTIS(Marine Total Information System) and VIS(Vessel Information System) enable us to raise business efficiency and to manage quickly in emergency by sharing vessel's operating condition, PMS(Planned and Preventive Maintenance System), History, Crew Information, Safety Information, Purchasing and Schedule information, etc. between shore office, vessel and sub contractor.

FMS

Web-based FMS(Fleet Management System) also ensures vessels take optimal safe routes and prepare properly for necessary emergency refuge by providing onboard staff with live weather information.

Safety Culture

SK Shipping is voluntarily and actively participating in Safety, Environment and Quality management by pursuing SUPEX , CAN meeting, suggestion system and periodic onshore/offshore Safety & Environment Committee meetings. SK Shipping developed safety culture continuously improving and supplementing our system, finding and removing any possible cause of accident. In advance.

Inspection

SK Shipping verifies that safety/quality/ environment standards are maintained by having company safety inspectors to inspect the status of vessels against a list of 250 checkpoints at regular intervals. Necessary corrective actions revealed during the inspection are assigned to relevant personnel to be implemented right away. This system is called ISR (Integrated Safety Rating). At every calling to ports in Korea, superintendents visit vessels to check the operating, maintenance, and the crew condition. Findings are reported to the vessel and company's office where adequate measures are taken. This is another way to ensure vessels maintain their best condition and the crews are motivated. Onboard staffs themselves conduct internal inspection and audit. These Ship-self ISR and Ship-self Audit systems ensure necessary immediate measures are taken to maintain crew members' awareness of safety/quality/environment at a high level.

Education

SK Shipping recognizes human resources management as the key factor for success since our foundation. We focus not just on to elevate our capabilities through various education program but also on to complete personality. We educate offshore employees with introductory program, pre-boarding program, offshore OJT and awaiting orders program. Furthermore, BRM (Bridge Resource Management) / ERM (Engine room Resource Management) training and VideoTel education have worked well in maximizing each crew's capability, feeding them with up-to-date information, and building a strong team spirit. We also encourage and offer professional training by accredited world-class training centers such as MSS (Marine Safety Service).Ship/shore joint mobilized drills are conducted on a regular basis to prepare for emergency situations. Onboard drills such as SOLAS required by R&R are performed regularly.

Measures

SK Shipping uses Safety Performance Indicator to check and motivate our level of safety management.

To manage level of injury, we use LTIF(Lost Time Injury Frequency) and TRCF(Total Reportable Case Frequency) according to OCIMF Guideline and we maintain world-class level in these figures.

To manage level of accident, we use LTA( Lost Time of Accident) , which manage number of accident per year per vessel and we achieve our goal every year.

Furthermore, we motivate and reward Safe operation achievement such as LTI-Free, Excellent Vessel, Accident-free Vessel, Superior crew and On-Time reward system.
